2020 was a strange year.
Unexpected.
Full of challenges.
And now it is slowly coming to an end.
One of the biggest mistakes we can make is to move on after a year like this without reflecting on what it did to all of us. It was Socrates who said that an unexamined life is not worth living.
Sadly, many of us will probably move on –
without taking the time to reflect.
Without taking the time to take stock of wins and losses.
Without taking the time to ask ourselves what we need in order to be able to face what lies ahead.
I want to challenge you to stop right here!
At Integer network we value authenticity – in fact, we encourage you to be brave enough to be real.
Because it takes courage
and when you are real with yourself,
you will realise that there is a need for self care. And that may take even more courage.
I want you to consider the following:
You have to acknowledge that selfcare is a basic need. And your life is worth the time it takes to press the pause button and reflect on how you can take care of yourself. Spiritual teachers from all faith traditions agree with the words of Jesus: “Love your neighbour as you love yourself.” To take care of yourself is not selfish, it is not weakness… It is an act of love. And you are worth it!
Secondly you have to realize that self care is not a once off magical trick. Self care is a way of life. As we approach the end of this year it is a good time to consider making reflection and self care part of your daily life.
Thirdly you have to discover what self care looks like for you. Self care does not have a one size fits all formula. For some, self care will be soaking for an hour in a warm bath. For someone else it will be a long walk on the beach. And for another a quiet moment in the garden with a cup of coffee. You will have to find out what works for you.
The thing is, when we neglect self care, all other areas of our lives are neglected as well. You may think you are simply too busy to add self care to your already packed schedule, but if you are feeling burnt out, depressed, lethargic, or drained, then it’s time to think again.
At Integer Network we want to help you develop a lifestyle of self care. And there is no better time than now.
